I feel sure that by a stroke of luck I have discovered the site of a furnace at Black Lake
Meir Heath.

J.Fairbanks. What extraordinary good luck and good news. I always thought that the area you refer to was a part of a larger coppice. Now on the other side of the road going down to Stallington is a small pit, and going down Fulford Dale are a number of larger pools which look man made. I wonder if the Romans had anything to do with it? as Summerstreet Lane nearby is reputed to be Roman! Research Required.
